An interesting edited volume, *Hosts and Guests; The Anthropology of
Tourism* by Walene L. Smith, ed. U. of Pennsylvania Press, Philadelphis.
1989 deals with all aspects in tourism. It's first two chapters present
alternative ways to think about tourism -- the first as an essential
sacred/profane cultural contrastive device, the second as imperialism.
Chapter six deals with Bali.
