hominid time-line?

For an illustration in a forthcoming book, I am looking for an
historical example of a "time line" of human evolution, depicting
hominid species becoming progressively more human from left to
right. Ideally, but not necessarily, the time-line would start with
*afarensis*, end with Cro-Magnon, include a robust
australopithecine "fork," and show a pronounced anatomical and/or
cultural change between "Neandertal Man" and Cro-Magnon. I'm not
looking for something that attempts to accurately reflect any
particular interpretation of human phylogeny. What I'm after is an
old-fashioned, more or less linear progression of ancestors ending in
noble Us. Surprisingly, I haven't been able to find a good example of
this in popular books or magazines or anthro texts. If anyone could
send me a reference, I'd be much obliged. Thanks James Shreeve.
