You can read in one of the appendices of "The Bell Curve" how
Murray and Hernnstein constructed the Socio-Economic status index (SES)
for the NLSY sample. What I seem to have missed is how blacks in
the NLSY sample compare to whites on SES.
How many standard deviations of SES difference is there between
the blacks and the whites of the NLSY sample ?
