I've found this one helpful:
_Writing for Social Scientists_ by Howard S. Baker.
University of Chicago Press, 1986 ISBN 0-226-04108-5
I can't remember what I paid for it, but I don't recall it being too
expensive (it's a 180-page paperback) so it shouldn't destroy any
student's budget.
