If you are interested in flint knapping obsidian and flint/chert can
be found in a variety of ways short of locating it at the source.
Knappable chunks of obsidian can often be found at, strange as it may
seem, pet stores, it is popular as a fish tank decoration. Flint and
obsidian can both usually be found at any good rock shop if one is
available. This is also advantagous as they often provide info on type of
material and where it was collected. As a knapper myself I find it
satisfying to find material at the source but as this is not always
fesable these are potential alternatives. Good rock knocking! :)
