flint and obsidian cores

I'm interested in learning first-hand about manufacturing
lithics, but am having a hard time locating a source for the
raw materials in the area. Does anyone know of a good, reliable
(preferably inexpensive) source for obsidian and/or flint cores,
as well as any good texts on the subject?
