I think the Moshav (sp?) in Israel is an interesting example of a blend of
communal and private ownership. If I am not mistaken it has been more
successful (more adaptive) to the larger capitalist world than the Kibbutz.
I think in analyzing the fitness and adaptiveness of communal ownership,
other forms of corporate ownership or private ownership of land one must
take into account the larger socioeconomic context. What may be a disaster
today, may have worked very well under some what different circumstances in
the past, and may work in the future. Also how long does a system have to
operate to be deemed succesful. I think there are some really interesting
and important ideas on propertty ownership in this new thread I hope many
members post their thoughts on the matter.
