This is tangential to your main point: many contemporary
anthropologists, particularly those from outside the USA
and Canada, do not see themselves in the tradition which
defines itself in terms of four fields. In different parts
of Europe today, academic departments of anthropology are
most closely allied with folklorific studies, sociology,
geography, primatology, ...
