Flintknapping

As a flintknapper, I can honestly say that I didn't learn from books, but
rather learned as I went along. I prefer the direct percussion method, but
have tried other ways as well. IMHO, the best material (and my personal
favorite) is obsidian.
My husband can make a great projectile point, while I enjoy Olduvai
choppers and scrapers. In college, when I first starting learning the skills,
I made myself a neat scraper that doubled as a pair of scissors.
While we were in Mexico in 1984, we found a worker making a scraper out
of a Coke bottle. He thought we were nuts when we took pictures of the
process.
