AMERICAN RESEARCH INSTITUTE IN TURKEY

Review of permit applications for archaeological excavations and surveys
in Turkey, 1997

ARIT has been asked by the new Director General for Monuments and
Museums to continue the review proces for excavations and surveys in
Turkey. Considerations include the credentials of the scholars involved
in the project, the scholarly integrity of the project, and the financial
prospects for seeing the project to completion.

The deadline for submitting review applications to ARIT is November 1,
1996. The deadline for submitting permit applications to the Turkish
Embassy in Washington is December 31, 1996.
