Are you studying the HA club, "outlaw bikers", or bikers in general?
I might be able to answer some of your questions or provide some sources
of information, being "one of *those* types" for many, many years now.
I hang out with some of the HAs on occassion, but I am not a club member.

BTW, the *current* HAs are fairly representative of the population in
general (at least the club chapters I'm familiar with). There are
doctors, lawyers (these must be the criminal types ;>), mechanics,
welders, chefs, bank managers, CEOs, college professors, and just about
every other trade you can think of. There are as many with PhDs as
there are high school dropouts.

Most writing I have seen on the HAs has been heavily biased against them,
i.e., not very accurate.
