Talk about coincidental... Has anyone else had chance to see "Once Were
Warriors"? Wow! Very violent, and extremely disturbing. The Maori tradition
was definately presented as "good" but I found it especially interesting that
two of the characters approach the lifestyle out of desperation - one in a
seemingly "surface" way by joining a gang and getting the facial tattoos, the
other by learning the "deeper" structure of the training to be a warrior at a
social services institution where he is placed by the state. Anyone else seen
it and have comments?
