Laurel Kendall's work on Korean shamanism is a good place to start.

Shamans, Housewives, and Other Restless Spirits: Women in Korean Ritual
Life.
1985 University of Hawaii Press.

There is also at least one other book that she has written on this topic,
and I seem to remember a film as well.
