Canela CD-Rom stuff

Hi all...

I realized earlier that a while back I had asked just about everyone for
help in finding some information, and never bothered to let you know the
results of it. Well, here goes!

As I mentioned before, I'm doing an internship at the Smithsonian, and
my project is a CD-ROM on the Canela of Brazil. Since there's really
not much out there, we're doing it all from scratch, and the process has
been exciting and frustrating and wonderful. And that was just the
commute into DC. From a few decades worth of film and information,
we've managed to narrow the scope of the project to ceremony and body
adornment. (We've got some wonderful images!) We're still in the early
stages of the project, but it's moving right along. As a matter of
fact, there were two Canela in town for another event, and we had them
(and the anthropologist who did all the fieldwork) looking at pictures
and answering questions. Communication was interesting: I spoke
Spanish, they spoke Portuguese, and we managed to understand each other.
Fortunately, I didn't have to ask any of the questions for the
interview.

So, that's where we are now, and I want to thank everyone who offered
help earlier when I was looking for information.
