I think the political agenda of the new right folks is to undermine the
justification for and undo the affirmative action and compensatory stuff
that American courts have instituted in the last thirty years and treat
everyone on "merit". If differences in achievements can be shown to be
"inate" then the poor, struggling taxpayer needn't spend his/her hard
earned money on "foolishness" like head start nor any up and coming
mediocre white male academic need worry that that sessional job will go to
a hispanic woman to even out some ratio.
Pretty scary I think.
