John Stevens writes:

scientific types have been deriding the Tedlocks for not being inclusive, but
what would they say if there were nine articles on radiocarbon dating or
forensic osteology in the first issue?"

This "scientific type" would still be upset about it. I was (or tried
to be) very clear in my postings on that now forbidden topic that my
concern was not with the specific content of the issue but with the
editorial policies that led to it, policies that would still be
questionable (at the very least) if they were pursued by someone with
my own theoretical perspective.

Gee, I hope this isn't slanderous.

P.S. Sorry for for forwarding John's message back to the list
like this, but it's the only way I can figure out on my awkward
system of quoting somebody else's message in my reply.
