This weekend the First Annual Midwest Bioarchaeology Conference was held at the
University of Wisconsin at Madison. The program was sponsored by the State
Historical Society of Wisconsin, with local arrangements provided by Dr. Leslie
Eisenberg. Twenty papers on bioarcheology, forensic anthropology, and faunal
analysis were presented, 7 of which were delivered by graduate and undergraduate
students. Total attendance was 75 individuals, well beyond that expected for a
first meeting of this sort. Attendees came from as far away as Ontario and
North Dakota. Possible sites for next year's conference include Northern
Illinois University (Dekalb, Illinois), Wichita State University (Kansas), and
the University of Indianapolis (Indiana).

An electronic newsletter (including abstracts of all the papers) will be made
available on request to members of this discussion list within the next month.
I will post a notification when it is ready.
