I'll spare the list from the pain of pointing out the irony here -
it should be enough for me to express my surprise at learning that a
"Maine-iac" is a character of Urban Folklore.
I don't often get the chance to be indignant, so I'm having a hard time
passing this opportunity up.
But I guess I will.
And to demonstrate my good humor <grumble, growl> I'll share my favorite
"Maine-iac" story here:
A car with New York plates, piled high with knick-knacks, lobster traps,
and the like, the booty of a successful Maine vacation, stops to inquire
of an older native gentleman, "Can we take this road to New York?"
"Might as well, looks like you're taking half the rest of the state."
Cheers from Pemaquid. Maine.
