The follow up along the lines of urban folklore here has brought to light
this particular piece of "reality".

Unfortunately, in my capacity here as "sheriff", this is viewed as a chain
letter - something frowned on rather sharply by the sysadmin folks of
the Internet.

To those on this list who get the letter and give any serious thought to
forwarding it in toto: PLEASE - add a strong disclaimer at the beginning to
the effect that it is chain mail and should NOT be sent to a bazillion
friends! Or better, don't send it to anyone at all!

And for those interested in purusing more 'net folklore: try the Usenet
news and check out the myriad of lists alt.______.folklore. Impressive
sources abound, and it is useful for research.
