Indexer/Editor of Anthropological Literature, Tozzer Library

Responsible for the production of Anthropological Literature, a
bibliographic database and index of articles on anthropology from
journals and edited works received by the library. The data are
available in four formats: quarterly paper index, database in HOLLIS,
online access through RLG's CitaDel service, and annual CD-ROM published
by G.K. Hall/Macmillan. Principal duties include: selection of articles
to be indexed; subject analysis; data entry; compiling, editing, and
printing camera-ready copy for print issues; downloading records for
electronic access; hiring, training, and supervising assistants; database
maintenance and modification; and assisting with the planning and
implementation of plans for the furute direction of the index.

Qualifications: M.A. in anthropology required; PhD preferred.
Working knowledge of computer systems and word
processing required. Experience with Macintosh relational databases,
preferably 4th Dimension, highly desirable. Knowledge of subject
analysis systems, such as LC subject headings, preferred. Excellent
analytical skills and attention to detail required. Experience in
training and supervision required. Reading knowledge of at least one
language other than English required, with preference for Spanish,
French, or German. Editing and proofreading skills required. Experience
with publishing and page layout strongly preferred. Ability to adhere to

Compensation: Appointment salary depending on qualifications, $37,800
