I just received a call from a colleague in the Anthropology Department
at the NMNH at the Smithsonian telling me that the Indian Arts and
Crafts Board of the U.S. Department of Interior was zeroed out in the
House appropriation process yesterday, and that the Senate markup
happens 10 July. People wanting to express their outrage should
contact their Senators, pronto. Devolution seems to mean there are no
cultural programs or institutions worth preserving.
