I know in Venezuela. After he had spent some time explaining about various
hot & cold diseases and their cold & hot cures, I asked about the medicines
one buys at pharmacies -- since I knew he used them himself. "Oh", he
explained to me, "the Ministerio de Sanidad Social [FDA, essentially, in
this reference, though though it's actually the Ministry of Public Health]
checks all that. If they say it's good for a certain illness that's a cold
illness, then you know the medicine is hot." Handy way of reconciling the
two systems, I thought.
