Trekkies know the BORGS as collectively conscious CYBORGS.
Brits and lucky American Children know WHO the DALEKS are.
More interesting, perhaps, might be a UK view of
BT (British Telcom~=valent to 'Ma Bell' [ATT]) interest in the research.
The news items would suggest that what might be seen as Children's culture
semi-mythology is being taken quit seriously now that the kiddies are
grown-ups.
There is considerable evidence that the research paths of the US Space
program were determined by themes articulated in the science fiction
literature of the researchers' childhood & adolescence.
First question to UK Anthro-L subscribers--
Is the story real, or a put-on>
Second question--
How is the UK press reacting (if the story is genuine)?
