It's the first time I'm posting something on this list and I really hope I
will not commit great malaprops. However this is a subject that at this
moment interests me to such a degree that I am taking computer science
classes in order to be able to have an inside view. And I feel very glad
to see that someone is also interested in the problem.
I think it as one of the most important revolutions that we face both from
the social and political point of view.

For me the phenomena we are facing - especially at the
interpersonal communications level - are not a summum of alienation but, on
the contrary, a reaction to it. The Internet, to be more specific, and
everything related to it may be seen as an attempt to override the
silence grown among humans by our type of society and mainly by its economic
conditions.

Let's only compare the TV addiction and its consequences and the discussion
lists.
