Folks interested in the debate over funding for NEH and NEA might want to
pick up today's Wall Street Journal, which features (p. A22) Lynne
Cheney's charmingly entitled essay, "Kill My Old Agency, Please." The
oblique reference to Henny Youngman may be the only funny line in the piece.
If we are going to argue on behalf of these agencies, we'll have to take
into account assaults like this. Cheney has, of course, compiled a list
of horror stories--artists nailing themselves to Volkswagens, etc.
