John McCreery said something about intending to become an adjuct. I applaud
and appreciate his intentions to return to academia, if I understood your
intent correctly. I think anthropology can maintain its relavance best by
having those that actually have done what makes anthropology relavant return
to academia to teach those that hopefully will follow in that regard. My point
is anthropologists are not just academes. Those that aren't academes have a
lot to teach.
Has any Prof out there actually made an effort to bring experience like this
to your faculty? or seen it done? or have suggestions or plans to do so? I
hope that the notion that academes resent applied anthropologists isn't true.
Anyway, if you have seen or are doing the above, how and with what success
are you doing it?
Cheers,
Keith Dever ... a snotty-nosed undergrad who would love to take an applied
anthropologist's class
