Reading suggestions: Media and identity

One of my anthropology students wants to write an assignment on the
effect of electronic media (mainly tv and computers) on the identity
of the users, as well as the medias' roles and effects as part of
social life in general.
I don't know what to recommend him to read. Can anybody help me with
a few good references to anthropological studies touching upon the
subject, preferably of a basic type that can serve as introduction to
the subject?
