citizenship, I constantly come up against American ethnocentrism.
Extremely galling is their invetereate use of the word "America" when
they mean the U.S. At the Atlanta meetings of the American
Anthropological Associatiion, a new Society for North America was formed,
which one would reasonably suppose would include Canada and Mexico, but
when they discussed the topic of education, they used only U.S. sources,
and my pointing out that Canada and Mexico also have educational systems
