I just remembered that displacement (the ability to mentally separate
things/events in time and space) was what Alexander argued was the key
cognitive process necessary for social scenario building. It is also
the key to language and possibily to tools too. Should we maybe be
discussing the evolution of displacement rather than intelligence? Any
linguists lurking?
