Hi,

I am a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University and I'm working on
with two design students on a project competition sponsored by
Apple Computer, Inc. The theme of the competition, Networked Educational
Tools, is to encourage the development of products that increase the use
of computer technology by using the Internet in the realm of education.
Specifically, the groups are to design an Internet-based learning tool
that the user can take with them as an adjunct to the main Internet
service (i.e., a hand-held device).

Our group is designing an electronic/computerized field notebook that
would connect to the Internet. Before we start to work on the interface
and industrial designs (using "our" ideas of an electronic field
notebook), we'd like to get help from potential users of this notebook,
such as zoologists, naturalists, biologists, surveyors, geologists, and
archaeologists.

If you are interested in helping our group, please contact
me and I will send you a list of questions that will help us out (i.e.,
what kinds of info you record in a notebook, what types of tasks you
perform while out in the field, etc.). We would greatly appreciate hearing
from anyone with ideas and information!

Thanks in advance!
