My high school "Introduction to Anthropology" class is discussing the
recent American Experience documentary on Ishi. I have heard from
one collector of folktales that the idea that Ishi had been totally
isolated for so long a time is highly unlikely. I am interested in
any feedback list members might have on the truth about Ishi's
experiences and any added insights into the role of the various
anthropologists involved. It seems to me the documentary raises some
very important and troubling questions.
