consisting of l8 colleges at different levels, has been unionized for
more than 20 years. Our union is the Professional Staff Congress,part of
the larger New York State Union of Teachers, NYSUT, and part
of the still largernational union, the AFT, the American Federation of
Teachers. Our salaries are known at every
level and every step. But then, New York City was a union city. Ruby
