Are we including TV and films in this list? The old "Avengers" sf series
had an anthropologist as one of the main characters for years, played by
Honor Blackman (of James Bond fame). She was a bit of a role model for me
as a teenager (I saw them in reruns--don't go getting any ideas regarding
my age from this)--a karateka anthropologist with outre dress sense :-).
