To my mind Gerda Lerner's book is full of holes. I read it when it first
came out, and I don't want to re-read it. Before she died Eleanor
(Happy) Leacock sent me her thoughts (very negative) on the book, and if
I can find the papre I'd like to get it to you. One thing I do remember
is that in the Columbia Seminor on Women that we attended many years
ago, Gerdo always said, "Make women central." She forgot about this
caveat when she was writing the book, because the people she made
central, if I remember correctly, were Marvin Harris and Claude
Levi-Straus. Gerda seems to have gove through a sea change when she went
to Wisconsin. Ruby Rohrlich.
