UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, LOS ANGELES invites applications for a tenure track
position, rank to be determined, in linguistic anthropology. Candidates
should have a strong research and teaching record in the ethnographic study
of microlevel communication, with specialization in one or more of the
following areas: (i) cultural variation in language use, (ii) language and
gender, (iii) language in the work place; (iv) visual representation and
communication. Candidates must have PhD at the time of application and must
show evidence of the intellectual commitment and flexibility necessary to
function in an integrated four field anthropology department and in a
proposed interdepartmental program in language, interaction, and culture.
