I thought, the important part was breaking the hard shell before eating
the filbert. Your dictum appears culturally induced (like b-leached flower) .
Have you ever tried a raw, fresh hazelnut? I've eaten tons of them as a kid.
I guess I must have died and now I'm in the purgatory (archy).
