I cannot cite chapter and verse, but remember reading verses in the Koran
that specifically address whether strict adherence to the dietary laws is
required under conditions of potential starvation. Basically, its the
thought that counts, and a starving man need not look a gift pig in the
mouth if that is all that is available.
