Get a picture of "2 Liters" in your mind.

Now cut that in half. You have 1 Liter.

Now cut that in half. You have 1/2 Liter.

Now cut that in half. You have 1/4 Liter.

And which is harder: remembering however many quarts are in a
gallon or remembering how many "1/4 Liters" are in "1 Liter"?

Granted mass/volume won't convert exactly for strawberries, but
guessing that it's roughly the same conversion as for water is good
enough for a first estimate. And there'd be no problem at all if they
were sold in Liters as well.
