I just came back from Dublin, and there is more redheads there than in any of
the Nordic countries. It is common in Iceland, but not as common an in
Ireland, according to my totally unscientific 'ohh, lots of cute readheads'
survey.

I would rather assume that red hair is the Ireland influence on Vikings
(especially Icelandic vikings, since Iceland has remained close in contact
with Ireland ever since).
