I think I just e-mail-ed you when I meant to post this message for the
group. I'm new at this. Anyway, check out Dean Hamer's previous book "The
Science of Desire". Another researcher associated with him is currently
doing research on gay women--at least that's what he said when he spoke in
West Hollywood not too long ago. Hamer has never said that the gene (Xq28)
"makes" a person gay, but that the gene probably plays a role (and he has
some interesting empirical evidence). He also correctly recognizes that
enviornment, including culture, also contribute to sexuality. It's nature
and nurture, not nature or nurture. He has been adamant about this, but
the media, as well as some researchers, just can't seem to understand
anything beyond binary, opposing labels.
