The University of Southern Mississippi, Department of Anthropology and
Sociology, seeks a one-year visiting instructor/assistant professor
beginning in August 1995, specializing in linguistic anthropology/applied
linguistics. Desirable topical specialties include language and culture,
sociolinguistics, and language planning, with secondary interests in
psychological anthropology and/or the anthropology of religion.
Preference will be given to someone with a geographic focus in North
America, Circum-Mediterranean or East Asia. The successful applicant will
be expected to teach a five-field introductory course, Introduction to
Cultural Anthropology, and undergraduate and graduate courses in his/her
specialty. Teaching load is nine hours per semester. Send letter of
