And could you explain the part about the ecological considerations of

Sounds good to me.

Do you know of any analogous situations? Most societies of the past held
slaves, and manumission was a common event, though I cant't think of any
cases of mass-manumission, such as occured in the US. What about the
islands of the caribbean? cuba, the bahamas, jamaica; what about guyana -
how does the history of race relations in these nations compare with the
US?
