Existence in Shaivite Hinduism is defined by the Brahman. Only the
Brahman truly has existence. It can neither be created nor destroyed.
What we deem creation is simply a transformation of the existing.
Thus creation assumes existence and can only function within an
existing Brahman. Something has to exist before something else is
created from it. Similarly for destruction. Something has to exist
before it is destroyed and something will continue to exist even after
destruction.
