Archaeology does _not_ belong on its own. How can you make sense
of the physical remains of a culture, if you have no context in
which to place them? Culture is the operative word, so the study
of other areas is essential to a good archaeologist as is his
trowel.
This is of course true of any science. The more widely
knowledgable you are, the more likely you are to be able to find
new insight.
