In general I liked the use of physical evidence combined with
thermodynamics quite a lot.

The seemingly obligatory end chapter hoping for world peace, in spite of
us "males patrolling the borders", like the chimps, didn't fit the general
drift of good evidence and theory, but it was far less strident than in
other popularizations I've come across

Maybe Homo wasn't so dominant. Maybe climate is a lot more powerful
arbiter in this case.
