While in the States during August, I met Christina Wasson, the founder of
CAPA (Chicago Association for the Practice of Anthropology). We started
a conversation about the lack of "hooks" (short, catchy, simple) statements
for explaining the value of anthropology to business people--a matter of
some concern to people who want to sell their skills anthropologists in
the non-academic, non-social service marketplace.I'd like to start a
thread on this subject and see what pops up. How would you, dear reader,
explain our discipline's value in, shall we say, less than five minutes?
Assume for the sake of the exercise that you are being interviewed with an
eye to your becoming an employee or consultant.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
