I teach history at Portland State and I have not found my students reluctant
to go to the library and find articles. Indeed, due to the small size of our
library, my students often have to visit four or five libraries scattered around
town to get the material they need for their papers - and most of them
do so. Most of our students choose to come here because they can't leave
Portland for various reasons rather than because they lack intelligence or
ambition.
