DETAILS: The University invites applications for one or two
fixed-term lectureships in Social Anthropology, tenable for
up to one year from 1 October 1995.

Candidates for the first post should have interests and
expertise in the social anthropology of South Asia, and will
be required to contribute to the second year multidisciplinary
course, South Asian Studies 2. For the Second post (the
availability of which is likely but not yet certain) candidates
with expertise in any ethnographic area are encouraged to apply.

Applicants should have a Ph.D., or be very close to the
submission of a completed Ph.D. thesis. The person(s) appointed
will be expected to play a full role in the Department's
teaching, research and administration.

The salary will be on the AT2A scale, up to a probable maximum
of Pounds 15,566 per annum (under review). The appointment will
be on a full-time basis. Under the Universities Superannuation
Scheme (USS) staff are required to contribute 6.35% of annual
salary and the University will contribute a sum equal to 18.55%
of the annual salary.
