Funny - I was always taught that a barbarian, in its original context,
was anyone who was not Greek, and that later the word was used for
anyone that was not Roman, and still later anyone who was not studied
in the Greco-Roman Classics.

Now we have folks who have watched too much Conan trying to attach
some other concepts to the word.....
