For most purposes, most of them are not too enlightening. However, if you
are in a specific sub-specialty the journals may be more useful. I regret
the demise of the anthro.-generalist who had interests in all four fields.
I do not believe that the increase in specialization in the field has
really added much practical insight into the nature of human beings or the
nature of culture. However, it has added a bit more detail (much not too
useful for applied work) to what we know about specific cultures,
theories, and methods.
